The benefits of organized play go beyond the physical. Participating in sports fosters resilience in kids that teaches them to overcome challenges, develop a strong work ethic, and understand the value of being a member of a collaborative team. From school to the workforce, the skills that are developed through organized play often lead to success in future areas of a person’s life off the court/field. In fact, according to an article published by CNBC, a background in sports is a common factor among many CEOs.
But, to participate in sports, children need more than just the desire to play. They need something that is often out of their control: money.
Removing the Price Tag on Sports
It can cost families thousands of dollars a year to allow their child to participate in sports at a competitive level. How can we ensure equal access to organized play for all children?
At Volo City Kids, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reap the benefits of organized play. Our goal is to provide all children with secure, fun, and stimulating sports for free.
What to Expect at Volo City Kids
Volo City Kids is a free and awesome way for kids to get active, develop critical thinking, and and learn the basics behind a variety of organized sports while collaborating within a dynamic team.
Our leagues are run by a set of dedicated volunteers who incorporate a curriculum-based physical education to get our players excited about the game. We encourage actively learning new skills while participating in a healthy and motivating environment.
We ingrain a sense of community, teamwork, and sportsmanship in our players. After each weekly practice and game, kids and their families can attend a post-game social, which includes a selection of healthy foods and opportunities for kids and their guardians to connect with other families in their community, volunteers, and local business contributors.
